Langley Federal Credit Union HQ, Oyster Point VA: The new HQ for the LFCU team brought about a change in how the senior leadership of this financial company went about their work day. Having relocated the group from their Newport News facility we were used many of the concepts from the WELL Building Standard which include, AIR, WATER, LIGHT, COMFORT, NOURISHMENT AND MIND

Strata3 Offices located in Dublin Ireland demonstrate a smart use on an awkward shaped space on a street level location. The open office supported by enclosed conference and private offices creates a dynamic workflow for the users. The groups are formed in workpockets, encouraging collaboration amongst team mates and colleagues from other teams. The cozy break area double as a meeting space away from the open office to lessen distraction. Clients and visitors have direct access to the conference room from the lobby area. The restrooms include one shower stall to encourage employees to walk , cycle or run to work.

Fort Lee - VA: Child Development Center

This renovation of a 4 story office/lab building highlight several of the WELL Concepts which includes LIGHT, AIR, FITNESS AND MIND. The design brief was very clear; create an more collaborative and innovative space so that the occupants would enjoy coming to work and productivity would increase. We focused on opening up access to the perimeter ribbon window system and providing work setting that were height adjustable, yet with low screens to breakdown “walls” . the existing monumental spiral staircase was refinished and at each level we had a mini work cafe that provided a place for adhoc meetings and casual collisions so scientists and researchers could share ideas over a cup of joe and smart technology.

Located in the Historic Freemason Harbor district of Norfolk Virginia

Designig and Creating Multifamily projects cover a broad spectrum of demographics from senior living facilities to urban dwelling with a mix of empty nesters and millennials. Each have unique features within the units and or common spaces providing the occupants with an enriched living place called home.

Guinness Airport Concept was developed as a pilot program for airport, air side retail. The intent was to create a Celtic Revival themed cafe/ bar- restaurant. The cafe focus is located at the entrance, targeting business persons travelling alone. To the rear of the space we have a cozy pub environment with a gallery back bar that promotes various products to customers on both sides of the space.

The tumbled stone floor pattern emulates the Celtic spiral knot, a very significant detail found in many ancient Celtic sites the famous being Newgrange.

As Design Manager for Sonas Design, Maria was responsible for overseeing the design and construction of these restaurants and pubs for the UK , USA Scandinavian and Irish Markets. Projects highlighted include the following:

Maria has extensive experience with Performing and Cultural Arts Centers . Her most recent project was the renovation of the Duke Center for Performing Arts in Downtown Raleigh NC. The interior finishes renovation was over $10 MUSD which included Memorial Theater and Lobbies, partial Meymandi Symphony Hall and Fletcher Opera donor room. Previously she had also worked on the Sandler Center for Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, while at CMSS Architects. This was a new construction project with one House and rehearsal hall, green room and donor room. In paralell she was also senior design for the renovation of Suffolk high school into the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, also while employed at CMSS.

Maria has extensive experience with hotel interior renovations both in the USA and Europe. beginning in Dublin, Ireland she worked on the first Boutique hotel in Dublin, the Mespil Hotel followed by the Davenport. Upon relocating to the Virginia Beach area Maria has been involved with both new construction and hotel renovations along the famous VA Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk

One of the 7 WELL concepts, Fitness Concept is to encourage the integration of physical activity into the everyday life of building occupants. By promoting physical activity a good exercise room encourages employees to improve flexibility, cardiorespiratory fitness , strength and endurance fitness.
